When do you stop????
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, February 22, 2004 4:59 AM
It seems that almost everytime I decal, I go too far!!! I was working on my NSX tonight, and I was decaling opposite sides, when I flipped it around, I realized that my hand had moved the decals on the opposing side, while I was working on the new ones!!!! So, when do you stop?? Or how long do you let them dry in between.....coats??? I wanna say coats, 'cause I look at them as paint. And do you let them dry before you put one up against another??? Like when the two edges touch each other.

As for me, if I'm decaling an aircraft, I'll put the decals that go on the top first. After they dry I will start on the bottom, then left and right sides. I wait for each side to dry now before starting on the other side. I started doing this after having the same problem as you. My big fat fingers can turn still wet decals to Censored [censored]. With big hands like mine this routine is more a requirement than anything.

I'll do the same. One side at a time, and let dry for a couple of hours. I'll also set the model
on a raised solid surface, angled to my view and touch nothing more than a wing LE and TE during the process.
3d modelling is an option a true mental excercise in frusrtation

I don't know if this will help any but try using a decal setting solution , then roll a q-tip over the decal until it has no more liquid , then let the decal/s dry an additional 15 minutes just to be sure and then you should have no problem , I do this and I never have decals move when I touch them . just an idea .
