Revell's 1/72 F-16 Tigermeet.

Sure, it's not the quantity of decals but trying to get all those stripes to line up, top and bottom. And follow the curves of the airframe....Indifferent

The Academy 1/48 F-4B has been the most at over 350 decals and stencils. Some very tiny and just hard to see.

I think I have to go with a 1/48 F-15 done oh so many years ago.  I swear I could actually see the sheet regenerating like Steven Kings "Christine" right before my eyes.

Indy cars are kinda heavy on the decals.  Any current race car is (F1, NASCAR, Indy, Rally, etc).  Back in the day it was a few sponsors and numbers.  Now they all are rolling billboards!

The Tigermeet Jets look pretty involved as far a decals go too.  I have a couple but have not made any.

lol, Don, yes, the crew too.

And while we are on the "tiny pieces" subject,,,,,,don't forget the PE for the Aircraft cockpits.

Back when I was still going to publish my info and try to have products available too, I came up with the idea of producing clear 1/700 canopies for all the modelers that wanted clear, but didn't like the overall clear aircraft. Sanity prevailed, though, and I didn't do it. That was after the time period that GMM came out with those Blueish canopy decal sets and before  the time that they made the  PE cockpit sets for the Trumpy 1/350 aircraft that came wit clear canopies.

3/4 inch long aircraft, with a separate clear canopy, a PE cockpit set, resin underwing stores, and about 10 decals for each one,,,,,,,,do this 80 times or so for 6 different aircraft types.

And then switch to larger scale Amphib Ships, because they are "easier", lol

This one doesn't count as "most decal intensive single piece", but, the decals for it do add up.

Build a 1/350 US Aircraft Carrier, use Starfighters decals for the Flight deck and the air wing's aircraft.

For even more fun, do something like the early Enterprise and air wing in 1/700.

the Carriers look really cool when you finish them, but, we don't get them decaled in a day, lol

note, model carriers are a trap,,,,,,a trap, I tell ya,,,,,you buy the ship kit, then enough extra aircraft to fill out the deck and the hangar deck, then you can buy an add on hangar deck for some (scratch build it for others), photo etch for the ship, and the aircraft if you choose, then update Islands and detail fit for your specific cruise, underwing stores for the aircraft,,,then get authentic paints,,,,,,and a decal sheet for the ship and a separate one for the air wing (if the dates differ),,,,,,,,,,good news, though,,,,,after doing a couple of ships this way, your 1/72 or 1/48 aircraft models will seem HUGE, lol

I recall counting somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 decals on the upper and lower wings of my Eduard 1/48 Fokker D.VII.........and then there's the fuselage.

I built the 1/537 scale Enterprise A from AMT.  Downloaded and used decals to replicate the aztec for the entire model.  That was fun... really...

I have two Hasegawa 1/48 Phantom F-4J Showtime kits in my stash.  The kit comes with something like 200 decals.  Since I'm poor at decaling, I'm not sure if I'll ever build them.

If you enjoy decaling, buy Polar Lights 1/350 Enterprise.  The entire surface is covered with Aztec( I'd say about a 100).  Then you do the small detail ones ( another 200 or so).

Revell-Monogram's Babylon 5 space station. Almost the entire surface detail is depicted with decals. It wasn't a lot of decals, but the decals covered most of the surface area.

Revell-Monogram reissued the Star Trek: Voyager starship as a ProModeller version. That kit had some plastic upgrades (clear shuttle bay) but the main one was the decal sheet. It consisted of 161 individual numbered decals. I built the regular version but haven't touched the reissue.

I find some race cars and rally cars are just covered with decals. I have never built an airplane with that much of the surface covered by decals!  Of course, there are the WW1 planes with lozenge decals covering the top wing that come close.  Personally I find a very small decal easier to apply than one that covers almost the entire surface of the part or assembly.

Another difficult decal job I find is on ships where the boot topping (waterline) is a decal, maybe 12 or 14 inches long by an eighth or 3/16 wide. It is so hard to keep those from curling or twisting up upon themselves!
