Microscale is still alive and well and sells by mail order. (completely separate from SuperScale)

MI-12 Micro Liquid Decal Film is found by scrolling down on this page  www.microscale.com/.../merchant.mvc

The exact same product can be found at places that sell it as SuperFilm , that is the SuperScale version sold after the two brothers split the companies.

There are a couple of other brands in addition to Microscale.  The larger hobby shops in my area do carry it, the smaller ones do not.  And those that do seem to carry only one brand.

Ok, this is new to me.  I have a decal sheet from the Accurate Miniature - 1:48 TBM Avenger - Bunker Hill.  I left the model half done about 10 years ago.   Recently decided to finish it.   I got to the point where I was ready to start putting on decals and was shocked when the first two I put on started falling apart when I slid them off the paper.   In this thread you guys mention "coating the sheet with microscale decal film."   I have never heard of this product.  Is it generally available at hobby shops?  It sounds like this is a liquid product that can be spread over decals on a decal sheet that creates a film on top of the original decal - re-vitalizing them or providing a new surface that holds the decal together.  Please let me know more about this product.   I assume the decal will still behave and react the same with micro-set and micro-sol after this film is applied?

You're welcome.  I ruined a few decals before stumbling on the idea!  Glad it worked for ya!

Try a second coat of the decal potion.  I've recently had the same issues, and it seems that a thin coat of the stuff sometimes doesn't work.

I also found that it helps to put a little additional application of the liquid all around the outside of the image area.  That's where my decals were flecking off pieces.

Finally, cut around the decal with a knife rather than scissors.  That seemed to work best for me at least.

Good luck with it.  It's frustrating to have a decal sheet go bad like this.

Depends on the decal, but if  you have a scanner and inkjet printer you could scan it and print out on inkjet decal paper. If decal is all dark colors it is easy. If the design features any white or very light colors it is much more difficult- it needs to be printed on white inkjet paper and either have a background color matching the background you will be putting it on, or else do some fancy and precise cutting out if the decal.
