white decals on dark surfaces
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, March 1, 2004 4:11 PM
I am currently building a Mexicana Airlines 727-200 in the new livery. This livery has the green mosaic tale with the white logo on top. The decals are relatively thin.

Does anyone know of a good way to make the white logo show up against the dark green back round decal?

In the past I have tried to paint over the white once the decal is on or cut out the green where the logo goes but it doesnt look very sharp.

Any suggestions?

If you can get a duplicate decal sheet, you can layer the white decals.

If you have a scanner, you can scan the sheet, and use it as a template for a mask. You could then undercoat the area with white paint.

These are the only solutions that come to mind right now, but there are probably others.

Good luck, and I hope this helps.
