Posted by Stuburbia on Sunday, April 24, 2016 8:24 PM

Im working on the revell f-15e strike eagle and there does not seem to be any decals for the instrument panel. I am willing to paint them with great trouble i just want to know if there should be decals? or if anyone can tell me where i could purchase them that would help too.

regards.

I frequently lay out an instrument panel on paper.  I drill holes for the instruments in the plastic panel, and lay that over the paper.  I drill the panel first, then put a piece of paper behind it.  I then trace the plastic panel, including the holes.

I have built up a folder with instrument images, using a google image search.  Search for airspeed indicators, altimeters, turbine temperature gauges- all the instruments you find on panels.  Use your graphics software to size them to 3 inches in the scale of your model, and glue them over the circles on the paper layout- or print them on label stock- no glue needed.  But if you print them on glossy paper you do not need to overcoat them as described below.

After gluing the plastic panel over the paper layup, I put a daub of window glue/transparency cement, like the Micro Scale stuff.  This simulates the instrument cover glasses.  BTW, the CRT screens just need a grayish-green color.
