i ve almost completed a roden fokker ev/dviii kit,but when i tried to put the lozenge decal on one side it cracked to pieces and was impossible to move on the kit.ive coated the rest of the sheet in jonsons kleer.will this solve my problem, or is there more i can do?p.s. the decal seemed so soft, it was as if it was melting almost, but it was only dipped in water,no solutions were used

Clearcoating the decal should help. Was the kit older? In older kits, the inks break down, and a clearcoat helps keep things together. Just remember to trom closely, as it will have film on it now, and you don't want any extra film on the . Good luck.

it wasnt an older kit by any means, but thinking back ihad to be really careful with a gotha kit from roden, the wing crosses were fairly big and what seemed to happen was that the backing paper bowed around "shattering"the decal.and some extra truama, ive just realised ive got a gv gotha which has every surface(wings fusalage, the lot) in this same stuff. WAAAAAAAAAAAGGHH!!!!!!!!

Johnson's Kleer, is that anything like Johnson's Glo-coat? hehe

Do you have Microscale products available in the UK? I dunno if they still make it, but Micro Superfilm is GREAT for either repairing old decals that may be cracked or for strengthening newer decals so they don't disintegrate. If you can find a bottle of this stuff, grab it. Good stuff.
