1/32nd scale decals for Bob Johnson's P-47D "Half Pint?"
Posted by Drew Cook on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 4:49 PM

Does anyone know if 1/32nd scale decals for Bob Johnson's 56th Fighter Group P-47D "Half Pint" were/are produced, and if so, by whom?

I know I've seen them in 1/48th, but not 1/32nd.  I've got the Revell 1/32nd P-47D, and would eventually like to make the model with this famous fighter's livery.

Thanks in advance.

I've only seen them in 1/48. and I do believe that "Half Pint" was a C and not a D.

Thanks, stikpusher.  I'd always thought Johnson's "Half Pint" was a D model.  The C's and D's look identical to me.

There are only slight differences between the C and early D. The most visible is the cowl flaps, the C having a slightly different arrangement at the bottom of each side. The C had no wing pylons, and originally no belly tank attachment point (flat keel). That is one reason they could not escort the bombers very far when first introduced into combat in Spring 1943. The D addressed the range issues in steps, and added more powerful motors and more efficient propellers.
