I've had fair luck slicing a bit as Tojo mentioned, then Microsol or Solvaset. There will be an exposed portion, a bit of touch up paint there. After some final finishing, you'll never see it unless your paint color match is way off.

Solvaset is a bit stronger,but you my need to put a pinhole in the decal to help it conform over the bumps,perhaps some cutting or slicing of the decal into smaller pieces.

Also is painting instead of decaling an option.

I'm decaling a wing.  Unfortunately, the decal goes right over a prominent aileron hinge.  Micro-Sol helps somewhat, but there's still an obvious bulge in the decal.  Can anyone offer an alternative solution?
