Decals on Tires
Posted by SMH on Saturday, November 11, 2017 10:11 AM

Is there any way to make decals on tires look less like decals on tires?

They also aren't adhered very well, a little handling and they flake off. I used Micro Sol  but it didn't help much.

If you’re dealing with vinyl car kit tires, decals don’t stick well on vinyl. You’re better off painting the raised letters on them.

Building stock cars, I apply Testors Glosscote, apply decals, then Dullcote, just like you would do for plastic. You could use a semiflat or gloss if you desire a different finish. Only medium that won't dry on vinyl is enamel, so if you have a favorite acrylic, it will work as well as lacquer.
