BlackSheepTwoOneFour I don’t use Vallejo paints but they’re a whole different animal to work with. I prefer using flat coat enamel instead. Dries harder and more durable than Vallejo.

I airbrush over decals with flat enamels quite frequently, and also have not had a problem.

Retired In Kalifornia I rarely paint over decals but did so over the "Tri-Facios" here: Decals are TAURO, high quality but glossy; used Testors Flat Black + 5% Flat White enamels, went on OK holding OK so far.

That is one sweet aircraft. Well done!
It is. Thank you, Tojo.
Speaking of flat coats, this Vallejo matt varnish I've got says it can be dilluted with water. What ratio do you reckon would give the best results? If you'd reccommend not doing that then fine, but it's a bit pricey for how much you get (at least for me anyway) and was wondering if it can at all be made to last a bit longer.
I'm new to all of this and this is the first problem I've run into that I just can't figure out without risking all of the work I've done up to this point.
How do you get paint to adhere to decals? I hand brushed on a coat of future over the whole model to get it ready for weathering and decals, put the decals on (just used water and a bit of extra future), put another coat of future over that and then left it alone for awhile. The decals went on just fine, all of my weathering surrounding the decals worked fine but it's just not sticking to one decal in particular on the side of the superstructure.
Did I make it TOO glossy? Does it being at a roughly 80% angle have anything to do with it (others at a less steep angle weathered fine)? Perhaps not using MicroSol and MicroSet, or something similar, is the issue?
