Awesome wasn't that hard or scary after all was it?

well, just a littleConfused Big Smile.  i had a little issue on the front passenger side one.  when i put  it down, the r side was a little over the trim and i was afraid to try too much to slide it, so i waited and tried to trim the piece - hence the small rip.  also, was a little bit of a buger working with small numbers/letters and getting them exact.  was a little off on the spacing and am actually a number short....  oh well.  over all pretty pleased with the outcome.  as always, it seems to be a question of how anal to be or not to be and im trying not to be.....  tksBig Smile

so this is what i did -

1) clear gloss brushed on the spots where the decals are to go

2) applied to white plate using micro set & sol

3) covered the white plates with future

4) applied the no's using micro set where needed

5) covered areas with flat clear

If you are worried about messing up the white and are having problems painting the white you can also apply the white decal wait for it to dry brush paint some future over that wait for it to dry then add the numbers the future will protect the white from lifting. Also good for multiple decals when using a setting solution on each.

What he said. I actually find solid decal film a good way to put down color patches without a bunch of masking.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

If you do go the decal-on-decal route, then yes, I would wait for the bottom decal to dry.  I have done decal over decal a number of times and never had a problem, but I always waited for the bottom one to dry.  I was afraid I would move the bottom one out of position when applying the top ones.

Apply the white decal (or paint as mentioned above). You don't really have to wait for the decal to be completely dry before applying the others. Personally, I'd apply the white decal...treat as you would any other decal. Go on to do another decal, in another area (if there are any)....in other words, let that decal set for a few minutes, then one by one, add the others, allowing several minutes between each.

For small decals like that, once placed, I'll dab most of the water away, so the decal isn't floating around, you should be able to position it with the tip of your tweezers or knife blade.

getting ready to wrap up 1:35 Sd.Kfz 8t Flatbed and i noticed the bumper lisence numbers are all individual numbers and letters that get applied to the while decal background that goes on the bumper - decals on decal application!

not back in this for long now, but ive never before seen this.

im guessing i have to apply the white background then wait to dry then apply then numbers, letters and dashes on top?

not sure i have steady enough hand for this??  tips or suggestions?  Tks!!
