Finished it up though been on it a bit very happy with it minus the missing decal . Thanks all on to the next build Revell f15 strike Eagle gonna give it a go get away from the German planes for a bit .

Also, for old decals, I do a test of the sheet.  Most decal sheets have the kit identification and mfg printed on the sheet, and this printing is actually a decal too. I cut that out and try to apply it to scrap plastic. If it shatters, I apply a decal film, like the Micro Scale stuff.

 

Decals do have a shelf life, so all will go bad eventually.

Now, whenever I build a kit, I first scan my decals.  Even if it is a new kit, I may screw up a decal during application. Most kits do not give you any extras, and I have successfully rescued kits by replacing a screwed up decal with an inkjet copy.

I've done several Tamiya planes and used their decals without a problem. I can surely say that the Do335 I built was in my stash for about 12+ years and the decals were fine. It could be an isolated issue since Tamiya ia pretty decent about their quality control but it can happen. You can contact Tamiya via email and ask for a replacement sheet which you will get from them for free.

@bish .No this was the 1/48 but yes very thick carrier film was kind of ridiculous as well. But yes they would break at the slightest touch.

How old are the decals? I recently did the tamiya Tomcat and the decals were fine.

I just built my first Tamiya kit, 72nd 109, and had issdues with some of the decals breaking up. they are also rather thick. I am glad i have AM decals for some of my other Tamiya kits.

What scale was yours, i have the 72nd 190A-3, is this the same one.
