No, ir was not a decal solvent, it was a main brand setting solution.

Did you use Micro Sol? I have had the same problem with Micro Sol. I used that on some decals on the nose of a P-51 and the decals shattered!! On the other hand, I have never had a problem with Micro Set.

Your comments and questions are always welcome.

Don.....Was it solvaset?  I had the exact same thing happen to me on my current Hellcat build.  I didnt have the decal shatter but the solvaset took the paint off and that was a under a thick coat of acrylic clear coat.

Bad setting solution.

I was starting to put decals on a motorcycle kit.  I put down some setting solution on the model, then applied the decals.  As I started moving the first decal into position, it shattered.  Now, this is not unheard of, and I began kicking myself for not scanning the decals first.  But then I noticed there were alternative decals for the logo I was applying.  I began to pull/rub the decal off, and the paint came up!  This was Testors enamel that I had dried in my drying box overnight, then let it siti a week.

Only thing I can figure out is that I got a bad bottle of setting solution.  This was from a new bottle!  I will be sanding out and repainting one side of the bike body, and then applying the alternate decals- without setting solution.  Now, this was a popular brand, a brand I always use.  I suppose such glitches do happen at times.  I think I will throw this bottle out and get a new bottle.  But I will paint a piece of scrap and try the new bottle on that test piece!
