Another decal paper post

I have been useing the Experts Chooice Decal paper mainly because thats what Hannants sells. I have had to print out yellow callsighns a couple of times, including my current build, and had to do it on white paper and add a black background. But the white paper doesn't seem to take the black ink very well, i have had to paint over it.

Other than that, had no issues.

I use the stuff that Micro Mark sells. I didn't have good results with Testors. I also tried another one that Amazon sells and again didn't think the results were great.

I think Don S. uses the Micro Mark paper as well.

Be aware that there are papers specific to either inkjet or laser printers.

Soon, I will be printing my own decals for the first time. Testors paper is available locally and that is what I was leaning to get. I know there are other manufacturers of decal paper and I am curious what others are using and why? I imagine some may perform better than others? Thoughts?

I am specifically looking for inkjet in both white and clear.

I get the stuff from Micro Mark.  While their prices are a bit high, they are easy to order from and ship fairly promptly.  The decal paper brand is a house brand.  I have been using it for over fifteen years and find it is a good decal paper- good stable stuff that works well.  It is pretty thin and works well with setting solution although it does start stretching if it is in the setting solution too long, but many kit decals do the same these days.  I have used solvent on it, but don't like to use solvents unless I really have too.  Solvents can be a disaster unless you are very carefull.

While decal paper looks expensive at first glance, the MM stuff is an 8 1/2 x  11  sheet, and while I always make duplicates of every decal I draw, I have never used a whole sheet for one kit's decals.  You can cut the sheet and reuse what is left unprinted on.  My printer uses a 2/3 sheet easily.  For smaller pieces it gets harder, but there are tricks like using envelope settings or taping the decal paper to a full sheet of typing paper.

Quick question. Am I under the correct assumption that silver does not reproduce when printing our own? I thought I read that somewhere.
