Decals will not slide once applied
Posted by KarlK on Sunday, August 23, 2020 10:26 AM

I am currently finishing Revell's 1/25 scale Mustang Boss 302. I have painted with Tamiya TS-56 lacquer and used 3 coats of Tamiya TS-13 clear. It looks great. However, when I apply the decals to the body they instantly stick and are VERY difficult to move around and adjust alignment. When I apply Micro set before applying the decal the Micro set just beads up. Am I doing something wrong or is it just the Revell decals? I have been applying decals for 30 years and have never run into this problem.

When they get stuck, I will add some water to the decal with a brush and that usually loosens them up to be able to move them around.I find the that the Set will do that sometimes, just add a little water.

You did a good job on the surface prep. I would guess it's a problem with the decals.

Water is the trick.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

I add a drop of dishwashing detergent to my decal soaking water. That usually helps make the decals slide.

Your comments and questions are always welcome.

A little saliva on the plastic will help too.
