1/32 scale Ukraine Aircraft decals
Posted by MR TOM SCHRY on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 12:57 PM

Hi Everyone,

After watching a video on You Tube I want to make some 1/32 models.  By now you've probably heard of the "Ghost of Kyiv" and his Mig 29.  I've learned that Ukraine also has some Su-24, SU-25, & SU-27s in their airforce.  I know that presently I have both the Revell and the Trumpeter Mig-29 kits and Trumpeter's SU-27 in the stash.  Does anyone know of a company that makes large scale decals for Ukraine aircraft?  Does anyone make decals of the digital camo that is currenlty used on aircraft?  Thanks and stay safe.

FoxBot is the only one I know of for the Ukrainian grey digital camo schemes.  They're a Ukrainian company, and I have their 1/32 decals and mask set for the Su-25.  I hit a snag in my build due to Trumpeter's horrible fuselage alignment issues, so I had to set it aside for a little bit hoping for an idea to pop into my head for how to correct the alignment issues.  The FoxBot stuff seems to be good quality from what I have seen.

Just in case you wanted to see the Trumpeter Su-25, I have a WIP thread for it here:

Keep in mind that I'm using lots of aftermarket stuff on it and have scratchbuilt a lot of stuff on it, so it is in no way a representation of what an OOB build would look like.

Thanks Eaglecash!  I'll look into the FoxBot decals.  Your Su-25 detail work is STUNNING!  Are Trumpeter's aircraft kits usually that finicky?  I've only built some of their armor kits so far.  Take care & stay safe.

Thanks TJS!  I have only tried 2 Trumpeter kits so far...also have their 1/32 A-10A...and that one is kind of a dog too.  Haven't gotten very far at all with that one yet, but its pretty cheesy, so its going to need LOTS of help if I continue with that build.  I definitely have to figure something out on the Su-25 though, since I've put so much time into it already.

Linden Hill Imports makes an extensive sheet for Ukranian SU-27s.  Google their online store.

Tojo,

The "Ghost of Kiyv" was probably propaganda meant to give Ukrainian citizens hope.  I have been watching the net a lot these days trying to make sense of what is going on over there, but there is a lot of contradictory misinformation circulating.  Details of air to air engagements have been particularly spotty.

I have the Revell An-225, and didn't like the Ukrainian paint scheme.  But given the real plane's sad demise, I have decided to eschew the Begemot Soviet-era decals I bought and go with the kit's markings.  My own little way to show support for Ukraine.

I found a couple of articles that mention six kills in a single day.  That's a little hard to believe in today's world, considering the opposition.

This guy makes some excellent camouflage stencils. I've used them on several of my 1/48 builds. Good stuff!

OK. In the stash: Way too much to build in one lifetime...
