My decal stash...
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, April 29, 2004 4:19 PM
Hey all, just wanted to ask a question. I have a little model box from testor's 1/72 corsair and in there I keep all my decals left over from all builds. Any tank decals not used, their kept. Any plane decals I didn't use I are in the box the minute the build's done. So the point here is, do you keep decals you haven't used or just throw them away? Just wondering what everyone else does, thanks!Big Smile [:D]

I keep mine in shoe boxes, which has become a quite a few over the years. I store all of my decals in zip lock sandwich bags for added protection. I label the boxes by scale & subject ( ie. 1/72 Luftwaffe, 1/48 USAAF, etc. ) so that I at least have a fighting chance of finding one when needed.

Don't ever throw decals away unless they get so old they're unusable or damaged. They can come in very handy at times. I just consider them part of my spare parts box. I've got three 3 ring binders - one with aftermarket and two with stored kit decals. Try to set them up by aircraft types.

I have a drawer in my desk filled with hanging file folders. All are labeled by nationaliy and hold all my instruction sheets. The one closest to the front is not labeled because it holds all my ziploc bags filled with decals. They are in the freezer bags that are designed to be written on, so I can label them and find everything I need quickly.

Got 'em all in zip lock bags.....even if the kit turns to junk, and I end up chucking it, I keep the decals.

I keep mine sorted by country in a photograph album. It keeps them flat, protects them from moisture and when I am lookiing for something specific I just thumb through it.

I don't really have a final system for mine yet. I keep them in a three ring binder in clear plastic pages. Some of them are also in Zip Lock style bags. The ones from Twobobs and CAM have been kept in the bags they came in. Other then that i have no other system. I don't have thet many different categories yet so I think I need to develop something.
