Testors Glosscote over decals?
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, May 24, 2004 7:22 AM
I think I already know the answer, but is it safe to spray Testors Dullcote over
decals?
After seeing a few decals "blister", I can pretty much say it's not a good idea, but I just want to hear it from people who know what they're doing....
Thanks...

Danny,

Did you spray the Dullcoat too wet over the decals?
It is lacquer and needs to be applied in light, mist coats to protect the decals.

Never had a problem. Just do as Mike suggested, but also be sure the decals have cured for at least 48 hours before you spray the Dullcote. You might cosider using Polly Scale clear flat which is an acrylic and works very well. I use it now more than the Testors Dullcote.

I've had that problem a couple times, but started using Testors acrylic equivilents (Flat Acryl) and have had no problems since.

Never had a problem with it myself, but like others have suggested, I wait 24-48 hours until the decals cure completely before spraying.
