HELP! Urgent! sticker problem :((
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, June 23, 2004 11:12 PM
Need some clearification and also some suggestions. hope somebody can advise me with some suggestions. I am facing diffulty and I need solution fast X-(

AFAIK, there are 3 types of model stickers, please tell me do I did the right thing or not
1. Dry sticker - (aka decal, am I right?)
- put it over model and scratch it and it will transfer to the model. Simple and best result, but very unforgiving if error.

2. wet sticker - (what does it call?)
- soak it over water, remove it carefully and place it over model. works like a temporary tatoo.
Q: can Mr Mark Softener can be used here?

3. pre-cut sticker (very thin, blurr and transparent base, what does it call?)
- just peel it off and put it over the model
Q: can Mr Mark Softener can be used here?
Q: it shows very ugly edge even though I apply Mr Mark Softener. Any solution? or any steps that I missed?

4. normal paper sticker (I usually just throw it away)

Calvin,

Let's see if I can help some.

1. Dry sticker - I believe you are talking about a dry transfer that you rub on to get it in place. You can put a dry transfer on clear decal paper (wet style) coat it with clear and use it as a wet decal.

2. Wet sticker - this is the common type of wet decal and you can use a setting solution such as Microset and a softening solution such as Microsol. I am not familiar with Mr Mark Softener.

3. Pre cut sticker - this type is not preferred as you can not use any of the solutions to help the decal conform to the shape where it is going. They also tend to peel over time.

Your best bet in modeling is to use the wet decal for ease of use. Dry transfers are good also but they take a lot of care in placing them properly. I would not use the other two at all. I would try going back through the pages of the Decal forum to find other information

I hope this helps. Maybe someone else will jump in with some ideas. Good luck.

Richard
