Decal Set Solution Compatibility Chart
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, April 13, 2003 7:11 PM
Hi all,

I've made the following Decal Set Solution Compatibility Chart, based upon my personal tests and info I've gathered from bibliography and other people's experiences. So, here it is. I hope it'll be a useful reference guide for you, as it has been for me for years.

Happy hunting everyone... Big Smile [:D]

Note that sometimes the manufacturers use aftermarket companies to print special edition decals, such as Scale-Master for some Hasegawa and ProModeler kits, and, on my ProModeler FW190G, 1 set of Promodeler decals and one set of Aeromaster. The contracts may change with each release, so it is often necessary to test an unneeded decal to be safe.

Great list!

Do you have any insights into whats best compatible with Italeri decals? I find their adhesiveness to be rather inconsistent from one kit to the next.

I've used the micro set/micro sol combination as well as Testors Decal Set, with no effect. Usually I end up resorting to a little pool of Future under the decal to get it down.

To the best of my knowledge, most decals found in Italeri kits are made by CARTOGRAPH (the above brand usually being denoted on the decal sheet itself). So, I'd suggest that you check with the chart posted above in order to find the setting solutions compatible with this brand.

And, yes, you've got a point on the inconsistency issue. However, I usually get decent results with Italeri decals using my "homebrew" formula (ie. Alcohol 95% - Acetone 7:1 mix)

I hope I've helped...
