I put the decal on an area of the kit where I've just applied Microset, put it into place (sometimes having to use copious amount of Microset or even water), clean up the mess with a piece of kitchen roll, then apply a small amount of Microsol near the decal, letting the capilary action move the liquid all around the decal.

Microsol softens the decal and will give it, at least temporarily, wrinkles. It is a stage when touching, relocating the decal is dangerous because the carried film is really becoming soft so that it can adhere to all recesses, and other bumps the surface of the model features.

I only use Microsol/Set on difficult surfaces. On flat and easier surfaces I onlu use a bit of Klear/Furure as a wet bed for the decal, then using water/saliva to clean up afterwards.

What Rick said. I have had this happen a few times, but the first time it did, it freaked me out!!! As soon as I futured over the decals, the haze went away. The same thing can happen on A/C canopy's when we dip it in future, and then use CA to attach the canopy, the CA will haze up the windshield, put on another coat of Future, and it goes away!! MAGIC!! LOL Good luck!

If you applied it over Future, the white residue is a chemical reaction between the Future & the alcohol base in the decal solvent. It will usually disappear after everything has cured. If it doesn't, a top coat of Future will get rid of 99.9%. If you didn't apply it over Future & if your model was painted with acrylics, then you have a more serious problem.

I've only used micro set and like ghettochild let future dry for two days. I have had the white residue appear but it always goes away the next day.

Micro Sol/Set Massacre! Help!
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, July 29, 2004 12:18 PM
I'm building revell germany's 1/72 RAF wellington bomber for someone. I just bought micro sol and micro set and I figured I'd try them out on this model. I applied micro sol to the model, put the decal on and I had to fight it to reposition the decal where it perfectly needed to be. When I was done there was a white residue where I originally placed the decal. Did I do something wrong? How can I get the white stuff off, if I can at all? Do you have a certain method you use with micro set/sol that works for you? Any help would be great. Thanks!
