"milky" decal prob

O ok thank you for clearing this up for me. I swear, i leanr something every day ont his forum.

silvering is a process in which tiny air bubles are trapped under the decal. this is more known in armor and planes where flat paints are used... flat paints surfaces are rough, unlike gloss, which provides a smooth surface. the process im decribing is when the decals are in poor condition and the enhesive turns a "milky color". when a decal silvers, it turns shiny on a flat paint surface.

i just found out what it was from another forum. its not silvering , but it is the enhesive printed on the back of the decals. if the decals got wet once and then they dried again, it will appear when you put it on the model, got it off with a wet rag , that for the advice!- mark

You need to get the air out from under the decal. I am also not an expert on this issue, so maybe someone else will give you more info.

This, my friend, is called silvering. There are various ways to cure it, noone of which i know because ive never had the problem. One ting you can do to prevent it is to make sure the surface is clean and put a cot of clear on before you put the decals on. Thats all i know sry.
