Decal nightmare...or, how I'm an impatient dork...

So I was working on a really simple kit last night, the "General Lee' Dodge Charger kit by MPC (a really awful kit, but oh well). Anyway, I've got the body all painted up, nice and glossy and I put on the decals. They transfer with no problem, and look pretty good (although they were old, so the adhesive wasn't that great). So I let it sit for about 10 minutes, and because I'm in a hurry, I decide to gloss-cote it. Well, I had wiped all the excess water and setting solution off already, so I figured this was fine. Shoulda known better...two of the decals puckered up and bubbled almost the instant the gloss-cote hit them. Grrrrrr. And I have no one to blame but myself. Dead [xx(] At least it's only one side, so I can face the other side out for display (it's gonna be under plastic anyway).

Thanks for listening. Big Smile [:D]

John, 10 minutes is way to soon to topcoat. I always let decals cure for at least 24 hours before topcoating. Even longer if I used a lot of setting solution.

Oh yeah, I know that...I was just being impatient. I almost always let things set for at least 24 hours (that's why I have so many in-progress kits going at once). Dunno what I was thinking. Smile [:)]
