Here is what I have been doing to get white letters without using an ALPS printer.
1. Open up Word. Powerpoint works good too.
2. Type the words, letters, numbers, etc that you want to be white and stage then on the page so you have clearance space between them. Letters will be in black.
3. Open up the Drawing menu if not already open.
4. Choose a box and create a box big enough to cover the words. It may or may not come up in a color, either way use the Fill Color button and change the color to the base color you have on your model, or something real close.
5. Move the box over the words so they are completely covered. Then, from the Draw button, choose Order, Send to Back or Send Behind Text. Now the words should be on top of the box.
6. Highlight the words with your cursor, open the Font Color in your tool bar, (you may have to add it from the Toolbars menu), choose White.
7. Now, you should have white letters, numbers, etc on top of the color background.
8. Save work.
9. Now, I print off a proof sheet to see what it looks like, may have to do some tweeking, then print off on the decal paper.
10. Yes, usually have to come in and paint over the background around the edges to get a good blend to the white letters.
I have had very good luck with white letters on black with this procedure. This does have its limits based on the color pallet of your Word version, but at times it sures beats the alternate of expensive custom decals or finding an ALPS printer.
Hope this helps.
