thanks rick, I figured I was missing something. So micro set first like I am doing then mirco sol after everything is set? How long should it take to dry and settle back down after shriveling? I dont want to panic and do something to fix it too soon!!

Correct. The MicroScale setting is a two step process. Some very thin AM decals don't require the Sol, but most kit decals are thick & will. They will usually snuggle down within an hour or so, but best not to touch them or use a top-coat for 24 hours.

just let it dry overnight and then wash the model with water to remove the solution residue.

If you still have issues with lifting decals you can apply a mixture of white glue and water under them to fix the problem....

First, forget about the toothpick, sooner or later you'll tear a decal. After the decal is in place, after your step #6, apply Micro Sol. The decal may react by shrivelling. DO NOT TOUCH IT !! After drying, the decal will have snuggled down real nice.

decal sequence questions...
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, February 14, 2005 10:10 AM
Can anyone give me a step by step process for applying decals? Before you think I am an idiot, let me explain. After my decals dry, they seem to "lift" out of the panel lines. They are still down in there, but barely.

My process goes as follows,
1.Wet the area where the decal will sit with MIcro Set
2.Soak the decal for about 10 seconds.
3. apply to surface
4. soften decal with micro set and let it stand for a couple minutes
5, preess down with damp cloth and GENTLY run toothpick along panel lines to help set the decal in place.
6. prss with damp cloth again and let dry

It looks great for a while but after a couple of hours it seems to come out of the panel. Any suggestions or something I am missing?
