Dye sublimation printers for decals
Posted by designkat1969 on Wednesday, February 16, 2005 10:50 AM
I have noticed several Dye Sublimation photo printers out there made for printing 4x6 photos. They run between $100 and $200 which is pretty good. I realize they don't print white like the ALPS printer but has anyone tried printing decals with these printers?

Thanks

My wife bought me an HP photosmart 245 Printer w/digital camera. Used it to print decals and it works great. Drawback is you have to cut your decal sheets down to 4x6 plus the tab to fit. And also use the maximum amount of color saturation to get all the detail in. Check the 'Decal' forum for the 'Making my own decals' for in progress pics of badging for a 1/12 Harley tank. This will give you a good idea what they might look like. Decal sizes are apprx. .25" x .25" I would post the pics here but Photobucket is down.

Thanks for the info. Cutting paper down to size doesn't sound too bad for decent decals.
