Hinomaru, roundels and/or meatballs....
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, March 31, 2005 8:13 AM
Hello- I'm in the middle of a build of a Japanese seaplane tender, the Chiyoda.
I've seen that this ship sported an air-recogniton emblem on top of it's aircraft hanger / deck. It's a large hinomaru with a white outer ring. This is not made specificly for ships that I'm aware of.....
What I'm asking is this : Who makes a decal set (aircraft or otherwise) that has a hinomaru / roundel / meatball that is 1/2 to 5/8th inch diameter, with the white band around it?
Very specific question, I know.... Thanks!- Craig

Check out some of the 1/72 AM decal sheets from Aeromaster, Eagle Strike or Superscale. You should find something close.

I have just purchased a set of Japanese Hinomarus by Techmod Decals. The sheet has a range of sizes but includes 4 with the white border witha diameter of 1/2 inch and 4 with a diameter of approx 5/8 inch. the sheet is 1:48. I purchased these from Hannants in the UK but don't know of a US source. Let me know if you have problems locating these as I could probably let you have some of mine as I am really more interesred in the larger sized ones.

Regards

Ronald
