                        I am going to try a new thing.

                        Insted of spraying down the whole kit with gloss coat I will try to place spots of gloss on the kit where the decals go.
                        I do not think their will be any problems when I put down the dull coat afterwards.

                        If you guys have tried this please let me know.
                        I will give the results in about a week or so to let you know weather it's sucsess or failure.

                        James,
                        I did just that on Tamiya's 1/16 Tiger II and it worked just fine. There were only 5 decals to apply - The flat coat over it all worked just fine.
                        I always recommend testing it out on something else first - I usually duplicate all of the painting steps on something else when I'm trying out a new process - it can save heart-ache later.

                        That's exactly what I do. I use future only where the decals ae going to be located and then 2 or 3 light coats of dull-cote to finish.

                        I'll assume Paul you mean the advantage of using future for placingthe decals. Decals do not set well on a dull / matt finish that is found on some aircraft and all armoured vehicles. To get around this problem, a small area is covered with future giving the decals a glossy finish to set on. Then you need to go back and overcoat with a product like dull-cote to restore that matt finish.

                        I still spray gloss over the entire kit because a pin wash is easier to do on a glossy surface than a matte surface. When I am done with this wash, then I dullcote the entire kit.

                        What about putting future over a decal after it has set and dried.

                        The reason I am asking is that in the past when I have shot the model in dullcoat
                        it fried the decals.
                        This has happened to me more than once.
                        I am thinking that the future would protect the decal and also help seal the decal to the kit.

                        Any opinions???

                        Interesting James ..... I've always sprayed my decals with Testor's Dullcote after this procedure and have never had a problem. As far as coating them with Future goes, no problems encountered there either.

                        Well I did it.
                        I laid future over the decals after I gave them a day to dry.
                        The future had no ill effect on the decals.

                        When I spray on the dullcoat I will let you know what happens.

                        I just put the dullcoat on the kit last night and all went really well.
                        I think I will try this again down the road and see if I get the same results.
