L049 Connie
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, June 23, 2003 9:52 PM
I'm making a civil Connie from Hellers Lockheed 121 and would like to find some decals for it. I plan to make it with an entire natural metal top and bottom. It would basicaly be from the mid forties era. Are there any available for this 1/72 scale? Also is Clint Groves (ATP) still in business making decals? It's been a couple years since I have been modeling.

Thanks for any help

Hi Snot4tots. Is it the EC121 that you have ? if so i have the decals from the Air france/TWA version of the L049 that i ain't using if your interested, also if it is do you want to part with the radar domes? i could do with them or a conversion...or would you like to swap kits? i can also get my hands on the M.A.T.S connie to swap if you would preffer this. thanks..Greg

That's the one I have is the M.A.T.S Connie. I did fail to indicate that I have already assembled the fuelage and have it foiled foiled for the metalic finish. In other words, I have a considerable amount of hours into it. This particular one as you probably already know, does not have radar domes. It is a Military transport.
I don't know of any way I could swap the kit with you. But I could purchase the decals from you. Could you scan and send me what they look like, so I could see that they are for the correct era. Thanks Greg for your reply.

Hi Craig Have you any swedish a/f decals (the blue and yellow ones) if so i'll swap them with you, if not some British fleet air arm or RAF trainer marks or W.H.Y i don't yet know how to post pics but both schemes are silver airframes with white fuselage tops the TWA one with 2 red cheatlines going along the fuselage and down behind the wing with large TWA letters on the rear fuselage sides and TRANS WORLD AIRLINES titles this looks like the all silver scheme of the forties just with a white top (if anyone knows better please let me know) the Air France scheme has a two tone blue line at window height going own at the nose and the French tricolor on the tail .Greg Cool [8D]

Just had a brainwave what about a swap for the M A T S marks?.Greg
