decal setting solutions

To the best of my knowledge, most available setting solutions are based on these two liquids. The weaker ones use the vinegar and the stronger ones like Solvaset are alcohol based. I've never tried straight alcohol on decals but Solvaset is as close as you can get in setting solutions.

I assume you are trying to save a few bucks? Try diluting the alcohol and test it out to see what happens.

I would suggest using a vodka or gin, rather than whiskey so it doesn't tint the decals!

Yes! and you can lick off the excess!

But be careful; in the process of licking the excess, you may ruin the decal.

I had an old model that I was trying to remove the decals from, and I used isopropyl alcohol straight from the bottle. After a bit of a soak, the decals shrivelled up quite a bit. If you're going to try alcohol, I would recommend diluting it first, though I don't know by how much.
