What went wrong?

TJ-did you put the decals on flat (matte) paint? If so, that's what causes silvering-because flat paint is rough and trapped air under the decals causes the afore-mentioned effect. Be sure to use gloss coat or furture before applying decals (also cut off as much of the clear part of the decal as you can). Setting solutions only help to conform decals to irregular surfaces like rivets. When all is done you can use dull coat for a flat finish. Don't despair-aftermarket decals are available and inexpensive.

I did use a coat of Future sprayed on a week ago! Oh well, this is my first kit in 17 years, I was expecting some problems. This website has been a great tutorial. Although this model isn't museum quality, it is the best I've ever done, and each succesive model will be that much better, right? This one has had a lot of first's: First time using an AB; First time using PE; first time using AM Decals. I can hardly wait to start my P-38!

TJ-make sure you use enough future to get a very glossy, smooth surface, I use gloss coat. But peel the decals and replace them-don't give up on your hard work.
