What works for me is Polly Scale clear gloss for a surface then wipe some spit where the decal goes and get it in place fast with lots of water...slide the decal off the papper to start it and pull the rest of the paer out....the spit will let you move the decal a mm or two....roll a q-tip over it then apply a little Micro-Sol.

I wouldn't use spit. It contains bacteria that can cause the decal to deteriorate over time.

Apply a gloss coat. Let dry for 24 hours.

Weather.
Apply flat coat.

I like to use MicroSet and MicroSol and I add a bit of Elmer's glue to my decaling water.
