Decaling on Bare Metal Foil
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, October 5, 2005 3:22 PM
I'm about to apply decals to a surface that is Bare Metal Foil. I want to make sure that I don't mess up the metal finish. Is there any sort of prep work I should do (or shouldn't do) before hand? Is it safe to overcoat with Future over the whole model, or should I just apply it to the decals themselves?

jtruban,

After foiling, I used steel wool (which reduces the shine and roughens the surface a bit) as described here:

Then Future over the whole model, then decals, then Future over the whole model. No issues with this procedure.

Best of luck,
Andre

I've never had a problem decaling over foil. Just make sure you trim them close to the design so the clear carried does not show against the foil.
