Future and Decal fix?
Posted by Sasarchiver on Saturday, December 17, 2005 3:42 PM

hi guys, i remember reading somewhere that someone set there decal with micro-sol after applying a coat of future and apartently the future or microsol turned white/misty. Do you know if this is true and does humbrols decal fix have the same effect??

After applying future to ur model, what do u use to set decals, apart from future??

Ok went ahead with applying the decals with decal fix. on drying the clear bit of the decal has turned slightly white, not too bad, but noticable. Should this be transparent?? Maybe i should try furutre for decal fitting. Ive holted the decals till i get a reply for tips on this subject.....thanks

It's perfectly normal...  use the decal fix, when done with the decals futire over it all... the cloudiness will dissapear!  Then you can go on to put the dull coat on if it is a military model.

thanks for the info tho9900 . Its a bit more noticable on a dark color. Thats cool, ill finish it off now and spray a coat of future. Thought about a dull coat (apache longbow) but i quite like the effect the future gives.

thanks again

Mix 1 part Tamiya Flat Base to 4 parts Future for a nicely flat look.

So long folks!

ahh so u can mix these? Would it require a thinner??

Anyways, let the decals dry, guess what, after coat of future the whiteness didnt go away. When i started to notice that it wasnt getting any better i switched to using future as a decal fix, and no whiteness. So decal fix does leave a misty/white look. ie there is a decal with 2 black lines about 5cm apart, but held between by clear decal, its this that turns white, not the edges.

Anyone know anytricks about soaking future into it or through it, would this work?? as decals are truly stuck on now.
