I occasionally gently wash my models...and occasionally lose decals in the process.

maybe you should think of investing on a Display case for your models. i have a good wooden bookshelf with sliding glass doors. it's primarily dustproof and i haven't dusted my models for years.. Smile [:)]

I just tried removing a decal with one of those steam jet cleaners. Didn't come off and all I used was Solvaset to set the decal.

When Future dries, water won't hurt it if applied to a model, so go ahead and apply a coat of Future over the decals if you want a gloss finish.  My personal preferences for other clear coatings are Model Master Clear Semi-Gloss and Clear Flat.  Although if I want a really flat finish, I apply a coat of Walthers DDV.

You need to use Microset and Microsol after the decals have set up and smuggled down in the cracks and crevesas shoot it with future let it dry and put on your perferd glosscoat or flat coat that will seal them.

Is there something one can do to make decals a permanant part of the finish?  A coat of Future, maybe, or is that water-soluble?  I occasionally gently wash my models, with a fine sable brush and warm slightly soapy water, and occasionally lose decals in the process.  Any advice other than leaving the models dusty?
