Help me find some good photoetch
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, January 29, 2006 1:39 PM

I live in St. George, Utah which has a horrible hobby store here.  I live about an hour and a half from Las Vegas which has a pretty decent hobby store.  And I live about 4 and half hours from Salt Lake City which has quite a few hobby stores.  The reason I tell you this is because I want to start using photoetch for my aircrafts and I don't want to be traveling to find these parts.  Besides between work and school I don't have time.  So I'm asking if you can give me some tips or some ideas on how to find photoetch parts for the different models I have.

Eduard has an extensive line of brass photo etch for armor and aircraft subjects in a variety of scales.  These can be found at any hobby store and also at many on-line sites.  I would suggest the following sites as a good place to start:  www.squadron.com, www.meteorprod.com, www.greatmodels.com.  Also, try searching for Eduard photo etch to find other sources.  The ones I've listed may not be the cheapest source, but they will stock the full line.

Or you can right to the source.

http://www.eduard.com/

I usually look here first to find the set and get a price. Plus they also show you the instruction sheets so I know what I may be dealing with.

Then after I find what I am looking for. I go shop around on the other sites mentioned above to see where the best deal may lie.

Ill trade you crappy shop for crappy shop. Beleive me, I have not so frequently been into some real stinkers who just dont care and wont order. I mail order almost everything now, since I know that within a few hours I MIGHT have a chance of getting what I want (but not generally).

anyway I like Eduard stuff over say Verlinden. It fits better and is somewhat eaiser to use, and there is the new Zoom! line that is pre-painted. Im totally sold on thier predecorated seatbelt sets, and I have several styles (USN, USA, RAF in different scale)  The Eduard stuff has a nice feature where you can see the sheet online.

Grab some PE, use shears to cut, file to fit and apply with gloss paint.
Have fun!
