Free Source for National Insignia
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, May 2, 2006 8:16 PM

Hi all,

I don't know if this has been posted previously or not, but there is a freeware package of national insignia for aircraft from around the world. It's available on the flight simulation website AVSIM.com. You will have to join the site to download files (IT'S FREE!). Once you join, search the file library for "insignia_package_1.zip" by Bernhard Behle. It contains the insignia in standard .bmp and .psd (Photoshop) format. It saves a LOT of time when making custom decals. Hope this helps!

Winzip never works for me. I'd probably register if they put it into a PDF file that you could open.

If you are in trouble with Winzip ( it's not so uncommon ) try downloading Winace. It's a very easy compressor/decompressor and it reads a lot of formats. Once it is installed, all you have to do is double-click on the file (zip or a lot more choices) and the Winace proposes to extract the file; you have the choice of destination and a lot more. I don't use any other decompressor anymore since I found this one. Moreover, in my humble opinion, PDF is only practical to read and transmit/download/upload, but it is not the best choice as far as image quality is involved.

Thank you all for coming José
