*Sigh* I am finally working on the decals on my P40. This is the first model I have worked on in years. Anyway. I was doing my second decal the 4/8P on the tail. I had it set on tail, and I don't know what happened it fell. I searched everywhere unsure.gif . I even searched my shoes, socks, floor, under the couch, under the carpet, everywhere. It's gone. expl.gif

Poopie!!!

Other than that, the rest of the decals look great. This is also my first time working with Micro Sol.

Did you check your finger? Strange for sure. Did it dry then fall off? something your not tellin us hereConfused [%-)] Micro sol isn't the problem, right now. How did you apply the micro sol and how long until you noticed it was gone. Who made the decal?

No, microsol isn't the problem here.  I didn't mean that it was.  I saw the decal fall, but not where it landed.  It's hard to explain.  I think I lifted the decal off to reposition it and it fell.  I was just frustrated that I lost it.  but

umm. now I feel stupid.  I decided to check and I just found it.  It was in a bag, that I thought was off to the side.  It fell inside the bag.  ????????

Congratulations, you have survived your first encounter with a phenomenon known to modelers world wide.  It's the fabled "Black Hole of Modeling".  It exists anywhere modelers and models exists.  It can be on your bench, under your bench or even between the bench and the floor.  It's function appears to be to cause model parts, pieces and even modeling tools (all of the smaller variety) disappear from this plane of existence thereby causing immense frustration to the modeler.  It also appears to have a sense of humor.  It has been known to make a part disappear and then wait until the modeler has gotten an new part by A. getting a new part from the mfg after a 6 week wait or B. spending 10 t0 15 hrs scratchbuilding the a new part.   Either way, 2 to 10 minutes after the new part is installed on the model, the origional part will appear RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF YOUR DESK!  This usually results in a period of even greater frustration on the part of the model.  All I can say is to be prepared - you will meet this phenomenon again many times in the future.  Good Luck

Note:  It is also widely believed the Black Hole of Modeling also has a brother/sister which resides in every mechanical washer/dryer in the world.  This relative seems to remove 1 sock from 1 pair in each load of laundry washed or dried.
