Guys,

 Simply do it yourself.

Get the kit from this site: http://www.paper-paper.com/WhiteLetter-inst.html

I've used their system very sucessfully to make instrument panel icons and lettering for several cars I've restored and for a couple of hot rods I've built.  I use various sized indicator lights and place the decals directly on the lens.  Works great and looks like a factory job.

I'm sure that a Google search would turn up other sources as well.

If it's a weird design or font you could give this guy a try - Mark at starfighterdecals@verizon.net . He'll do white printing with his ALPS printer, pretty much anything you want. The last time I used him, it was $5 for as much as you could cram on a 3x8 1/2-inch strip of decal paper.

an old standby was to use white dry trasnfers from the office store or micheals / hobby lobby, apply to decal film one letter at a time, seal this, and apply the decal.

Get some white decal paper, print your image and cut it out.

You can get decal paper at:

I am currently working on this same problem.  I need the word "FIRE" in white letters.  Tried to print the word using a text box in Photoshop with no background, but it came out red, so I screwed up.  I'll keep trying and let ya know if I come up with anything.

Chris

edit: Went back and tried again.  I went ahead and used the red background and the text function to put the word in white on it.  The red matches pretty well to the red fire alarm call box I am putting the word "FIRE" on; good enough for me anyway.  Chris, if you can manage to match the background color in Photoshop to your Vomit Comet well enough, you may want to give this a shot.

If you can't get the decalf you're looking for after market, it will be tough to make 'em yourself.  The only printer tht could  print white is the ALPS printer but they are no longer in production. And very expensive to buy on Evil Bay.  If you have a steady hand you could lighty draw the outline and some white decal paper and cut it out by hand.  Or make tape or frisket stencils and spray the markings on.

Oh and BTW...Welcome to the forum.

I am interested in making some custom decals for my latest project.  WHat is the best way, aside from piecing the words together one letter at a time, to creat and print white letters/words for use as insignas?

I am trying to create the tail and nose art words found on Nasa's KC135 Vomit Comet.

Thanks!

Chris.
