Custom Decals?

Chris ... you have most of the technology right at your own fingertips.

Are the graphics that you need available on the net or from personnal resources?
If they are then use a graphic editor to resize them and have them printed onto decal paper with a lazer printer. The only drawback is that most printers cannot print white, so careful planning is needed. White backed decal paper is available for this problem. After printing coat them with liquid decal film and apply just like a normal decal.

Thanks Robert, but there's a few things I don't have a laser printer and decal paper. All I have is an ink jet ad it decided not to work anyway. I guess I was mainly wondering if there was a place where if supplied with the graphics they could do the work.

There's always Kinko's or another office supply shop wherein you can try Robert's method...

For going the custom graphics route try looking in the yellow pages under 'custom photograpy', or 'custom graphics', or 'drafting contractors'. If you bring your original images to them, along with the decal paper, they can probably help you out.
It could end up being quite expensive so I recommend talking to them extensively about what it is you want, and maybe see if they'll do a sample or trial run.

These shops can usually do PE positives as well.

Decal paper is available at most hobby stores, especailly train stores.

Bruce has nailed the lazer jet problem .... most photocopy or printing shops will have one and for a nominal fee will print from a disk for you.

Thanks guys this is something my dad really wants to do so hopefully one of those will pan out, being in the construction field I don't think about all the office type stuff much, I hate it when I have to use the copier in the office, never fails to get jammed.

There are compaies (cottage industries) that produce custom decals to scale from your art work. Search the web for custom decals. I've had excellent luck with Mike Grant - www.mikegrantdesign.com/decals He normally does aircraft. But, it may be worth a try?

Another vote for Mike Grant. He is a most excellent artist, fair priced and fast. The PB4Y in my signiture features Mike Grant decals.

Also you could try JT Graphics at jtwaclawski@radicus.net I just asked him if I supplied him with the proper size/dpi, could he make me custom decals of my news truck. He said no problem. I've bought two decal sheets off him & I've had no problems. JT does great stuff! The price was pretty good, too! Couldn't hurt to ask!

Check the small adverts in the back of your last issue FSM - there are usually several ads for production of custom decals
