Darkening of future .. decal worries

I believe he meant dipping his decals in Future one at a time, then immediately applying them to the kit. 

I've used Future with decals before with no issues.  In fact that's what I had to do with the decals on my just completed Italeri 1/35 PzKpfw IV Ausf. G.  The decal sheet was very old and when I dipped the decals in water the decal glue (or whatever it's called) became milky colored and separated from the decals.  So I just rinsed the decal in the water, brush applied a bit of Future where the decal was supposed to go and voila!  Worked just fine.  I then sealed everything up with a coat of Future sprayed through my Air Brush before I moved on to the oil washes. 

And like the others have said, any gloss coat makes the paint appear slightly darker, but when you follow up with your final flat coat to seal everything up it will look "normal" again.

yes .. sorry if it sounded like im ALL for future FAR from it. I just have to test around. I have some spares thankfully.

Totally [ot] :) Got sidetracked today.

I just realized today that my 5 2-piece decals (the first underlaying) has the wrong nuance so i must resort to 1 decal and underpaint instead, eek to the masking. I'm done cutting.. apply and spray time tomorrow.. praying decals will match up. (at least the cutted out tape fitted reasonably on the decals bag.) My ruler and mag glas isn't mint condition. :) hihi ooh have to relax now.

Since you seem so all fired set to use a floor polish as a setting solution, and won't listen to several people who just told you not to do it, why ask a question? Ask the people who wrote the "showcase reviews" what their formula is.

The decals are new (well 1 year) (i'm not english) i meant they are bought specially.. not using the kits decals.

Contradicting stuff. :C I've seen so many showcase reviews where they say they used future as set and sol (=skip microsol set)" /VS "uncertain if future will show after its dry" (darker around decals).

Also i'm more afraid of sol set messing my decals then future (which seems simpler.. just waterwet & future dip no fuss).

Any clear coat will darken a flat painted surface, gloss coats more than flat clear coats. The clear flat will not return the apparent color of the flat paint to its original state, but it will lighten it.

There are several people, including Paul Boyer, who have used Future as a decal solution. While I have not tried it yet, the only danger I see is if the Future starts to cure before you get the decal positioned.

Do NOT use Future as a decal film to protect old decals by applying it to the decal sheet and allowing it to dry and cure. Cured Future is brittle, and it shrinks as it cures, too. Microscale makes a brushable decal film that works quite well to rescue old or fragile decals. 

I would be very leery about dipping decals in Future, ior any liquid, before using them. First, it might begin to loosen the decal from the paper, Second, it may may the decal less likely to conform to the surface. If the decals need protection, use MicroScale Decal Saver which can be applied with a brush.

I've never seen any noticeable color shift when using Future, but if you're worried about color shift, why not simply get products that were specifically designed and are marketed for model builders such as Glosscoate and Dullcote? Airbrush on Glosscoat. Let it dry. Apply decals using Solvaset, Microsol or Microset. None of these are strong enough to attack Glosscote laquer. Finish off with an airbrushed layer of Dullcote.
