This sounds good for my situation also. I just purchased a Lockheed P2V-7 "Neptune" kit circa 1960-70's version for Japanese market on Ebay and the decals look pretty dry; I suspect that they would crack coming out of the water or before. I may try this but would like to copy and reproduce the sheet on a printer before using them as there may be no replacements available. Couldn't find anything for a P2V in any scale on the Microscale website either. I would like to model one of the last squadrons base in Louisiana (VP-94 "Crawfishers") but don't have a clue where to get all the info to scale down the insignias and markings for decals. Anybody? Thanks folks. 737man.

I had a similar problem with the decals that came with my Monogram P-39. Here's what I did:

Soak the decal until the glue lifts from the back of the film (after the decal has come free from the paper.

Using a wide paint brush, gently brush the excess goo off the back. Keep going until it looks like it's all gone.

Apply the decal to the surface, using setting solutions as needed, or

Use Future as a decal solution. Remove decal from the water bath, touch to paper towel to remove water, then dip in Future and apply to surface.

Seal with Future.

old decal treatment question....

 Hey to all,

I've got a set of decals that dates back to the late '70s. They're in really good condition or so it appears until you get them wet. Once they're soaked in water the glue seems to glob up or roll up on the back of the film and of course when you apply the decal the film and bits of glue show really bad, no matter how glossy the surface. Is there anything I can do to restore these things. They're not yellowed and were sealed in a plastic sleeve from the factory so they've been protected. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
