Boyington didn't actually have a specifically assigned aircraft. All the members would jump on a jeep or whatever else and hop off one at a time as they rode down the line. The book "The Black Sheep" by Bruce Gamble has a list of the BuNum of the F4U-1s that Boyington flew during his second tour in the Pacific. It is on page 432 of the book. On the next page it describes the incident whereby Boyington posed in an aircraft for a publicity phot, and this is the bird that everyone attributes to Boyington. I believe that the Squadron F4U In Action has a picture of one of the birds he actually flew coming in to one of the fields, based on the BuNum. These may be cross referenced between the two. I hope this helps some.
