The bleaching effect is from exposure to ultraviolet, so YMMV depending on the amount of UV. If you live in Seattle, it will take longer than in Arizona, for example, because the sun shines less frequently in the soggy northwest, and there is more atmospheric stuff (rain, fog, snow, etc.) to get in the way. Just check them periodically.

Yes, they will slowly yellow again, and UV is friendly to nothing human made. After such exposure, recoating with decal film might not be a bad idea.

Yellowed decals

It is a fact that if you fasten yellowed decals to a window, the sun will bleach away the yellow.  I imagine it depends on the degree of yellow, but does anyone know how long it takes to get rid of the yellow?  Do you have to use them quickly, or they turn yellow again?  Can you use one of those daylight lightbulbs instead of the sun?  Thanks for any responses.

I may get so drunk, I have to crawl home. But dammit, I'll crawl like a Marine.
