Testors decals (bad technique? or bad product?)
Posted by avadon on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 5:58 PM

I've been making decals with the testors decal paper and their spray and they come out quite poor. They are nowhere near the quality of what you get in testors model kit or any other kit for that matter. I'm printing on an inkjet printer on "best" quality as well.

My biggest issue is that the black is crackley, speckley and grainy and not a black really at all. The overall quality is significantly worse then just a high quality print on matte paper. Anyone else have this problem?

I'm beginning to think hand painting insignias is better then ever using decals.

Wooohooo!! I fixed it..  when your printing testors decals change your printer setting to HP Premium photo paper and the decals then come out like they were done on a laser writer. Who would have thought.

Hello Avadon,

Way to go for fixing the problem you were having!

Do you have any photos you can post of the decals you printed so we can see how they came out?

Andrew
