Printing decals...
Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, November 5, 2003 2:24 PM

I've heard lots about the ALPS printers and how they're great for printing decals because they can print 'white'. However, I'm wondering if there are any other brands or models that can do the same thing?

I believe the ALPS uses dye sublimation and a quick search leads me to believe there are lots of printers out there (Canon, Kodak, Sony, etc) that use similar technology/process for prints. It seems that these printers are getting more and more common now that people are printing digital prints from their cameras more often.

Am I missing something? Would the various dye sub printers from Canon, Kodak, or Sony be able to print decals like the Alps??

Thanks for your thoughts...

One would reason to thick so but no one else out there makes a sublimation printer like the ALPS. There are a small number of modelers out there including myself who use color laser printers. The results are awesome, however they don't print white. Oh well guess we'll just have to continue to dream on....
