Dremel tool improvements?
Posted by rabbiteatsnake on Monday, June 22, 2009 12:07 AM
While working on Six flags over Georgia's "Monster mansion" ride refit, the boss got two new dremel motor tool kits for the work sight.  With supposed ergonomic styling, this generation of moto tool is worse than any before. When held the fingers have nowhere to go but toward the spinning chuck leaving one barely able to control or manuever the bloody thing with any effecasy, not to mention that any grip you use covers much of the cooling slots making the thing too hot to use after 5 min's of liberal use.  My first Dremel c 1980 soldiered on through 11 years of hard  duty only to have it's bearings wrecked by a chuklehead who borrowed it to cut dozens of 10 penny nails, useing too much preasure.  every one I've owned since then has not been up to standards of previous models. This latest generation is a poor substitute for my original tool.

The only thing I can suggest is: More power!

Which model of Dremel are you referring to? If it is the new Stylus, then I wall have to respectfully disagree.

Not the stylus, I guess the multi pro or it's contemperary equivolent, more precisly I'm saying it's Dremel's inexerable decay of overall quality. My first moto tool, which I used professionally as well, fell to abuse or I'd still have it today.  My "newer" one isn't half the tool of my 1st and this brand new version even less.

It's planned obsolescence.
