Mr Surfacer is essentially just a thick lacquer based paint. Typically, you apply it with a brush over fine seams, scratches, ejector pin marks and sink marks. When dry it sands fairly easily. It can also be stippled on with a brush to simulate rough-cast or rolled armour. Clean up your brush using lacquer thinner.

Mr Mark Setter is roughly analagous to MicroSet and is applied to the surface to be decalled before the decal is applied. My understanding is that unlike MicroSet, it has some adhesive properties. I haven't used Mr Mark Setter yet, but am planning to get some to try.

I have used Mr Mark Softer and it's similar to MicroSol - a softening agent. It's quite strong so use it sparingly. I'd suggest testing on a spare decal when you use it on any given build, because results may vary. I've had some which are totally unresponsive and others which look like they're going to melt and run off. I've also read accounts of it bleaching underlying paint and/or the decals themselves.

Both varieties of setting solutions have applicator brushes in the bottle caps.

i cant speak for any of it, but i do you polly s plastic prep. all i do is brush it on in downward strokes. it works good and the downward motion drags any remnants off of my models, figures, etc. i too wanted it to last hence i did what i did without "bathing" the parts. i've had no trouble doing it that way...but perhaps someone who uses your products can be more specific.

Testors plastic prep and the Mr. range

Hi all

I am interested in hearing what Mr. Surfacer, Setter and Softer and Testors plastic prep are like. I'm not sure how the Mr. range is applied. By brush I assume. And I also want to know what is invo0lved in properly using testors plastic prep. I quickly read the instructions on the back but have forgotten most of it. I do remember reading that you need tto bath the parts in the stuff. Does this use up a lot of it? Is it reusable?
