I've been trying to find some Mr Surfacer 500 in the 40 ml bottles in the U.S. and none, nada zilch. I've heard rumors that GSI CREOS products are not being exported to the USA any longer. But I've also come up dry at the major overseas sites as well. Anyone know if this has been discontinued?

Thanks

GSI Creos aqueous paints are no longer exported to the US, but as far as I know, all their other products are. They can, however, be out of stock from time to time.

Thanks for your reply Michael. At first I was not too concerned, but when this search went on for several months, I became so! I guess I should email some of the major players (like the one in your backyard) and see what is going on.

Thanks

Mike, I ordered some Mr.Surfacer 500, 1000 and liquid putty online from HobbyLink Japan about a month ago and recieved it about it in about 3 weeks after back order. It's an excellent site for hobby needs and they were rather timely with the order. Hope you find what ya need.

Mike,

Just FYI, GSI Creos products are imported and distributed in the US by Dragon USA.

Thanks for the reply Joe. I call myself looking at HLJ, but went back today and scored. I stocked up a little bit to prevent running out. I just started using this product and love it. Paint some on, let it dry a bit, cotton swab with alcohol and done, seam fixed.

Hi Mike,

You may wish to look at Tamiya's roughly equivalent "Liquid Surface Primer" product, which should be readily avalable. It's a little finer grained than Mr Surfacer 500 (probably nearer the "1000" grade), and seems to me to dry a little softer, but otherwise is quite similar in properties. It can be cleaned up easily with denatured alcohol and comes in grey or white.
