After testing all the cameras Wallymart had the Cannon Power Shot SD 1200 IS produced the best close-ups. Its 10.0 megapixels and smaller than a pack of smokes. I found than NOT useing the zoom produced the sharpest close-ups, also a tripod and useing the timer is manditory for them. Here is a example:

I paid 218$ Canadian for mine, like everything electronic its probally a bit less now.

If you just want to use it to post photos online, then almost any digital camera will do that these days. The cheap no name $99 digital cameras are better than the expensive digital cameras from 3 or 4 years ago. My wifes cell phone could produce a decent enough photo to post online.

I'd just look for something that has a manual setting so you can adjust the white balance to the light you are using and that it has a macro setting. An optical zoom would also be nice as sometimes that will work better than a macro.

Personally I use one of two cameras.  Mine is a Canon EOS 10D that I bought second hand a couple months ago.  If I don't feel like messing with that one I use my wife's Kodak M340 point and shoot camera.

In a pinch i've also used a cell phone camera; but not for pics I'd want to post online.

Well, I was not sure where to post this, so I'll just start here.

I would like to know what brand of digital camera is most commonly used on the forums when posting pictures. I'd like to purchase one, but being Scottish, not spend a lot of money. The only thing it would be used for is the forums, as all other pics I take are on film.

All suggestions are most appreciated........
